In this webinar, Rev. Dr. Justin Glyn, S.J. will examine the term "vulnerable" as used in recent Church documents and reflect on its usefulness as a theological and canonical concept.
The presentation will explore ways of interpreting vulnerability that avoid the creation of an "underclass" within the Church, while also considering the relationship between vulnerability and disability. The speaker will highlight theological and canonical parallels found in other areas of Church practice.

Rev. Dr. Justin Glyn, S.J. is a legally blind Jesuit priest, lawyer, canonist, and academic currently residing in Melbourne, Australia. He serves as General Counsel to the Australian Province of the Society of Jesus, working in both civil and canonical legal practice.
He has practised law in South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia and is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria, the Canon Law Society of America, and the Canon Law Society of Australia and New Zealand, where he chairs the editorial board of its journal, The Canonist. He is also a member of the Loyola Institute and an Honorary Fellow of the Australian Catholic University.
In addition to his priestly ministry, Fr. Glyn works in legal and canonical governance, academic and practical disability theology, tutoring, and occasional lecturing. Prior to entering the Society of Jesus, his professional background was in commercial law, international law, and administrative law, the latter two being the focus of his doctoral studies.
