The Servants of Mary: new General Government elected for the 2025–2031 term

From 9 to 30 November 2025, the 215th General Chapter of the Order of the Servants of Mary took place. This was a fundamental moment in the life of the Order, during which the capitulars gathered for communal discernment and for the election of the new General Government. Approximately one month after the conclusion of the Chapter, the Order has begun its new journey under the guidance of the Government elected for the 2025–2031 term, entrusted with safeguarding and renewing the Servite charism within the contemporary ecclesial and social context.
The new Prior General
The General Chapter elected fra Sergio M. Ziliani as Prior General. He was born in 1966 in the province of Cremona (Italy). He made his first profession of vows in 1987 and was ordained a priest in 1993. He is entrusted with the task of animating and coordinating the life of the Order of the Servants of Mary, promoting fraternity, mission, and fidelity to Marian spirituality.
The General Council 2025–2031
Alongside the Prior General, the Chapter elected the members of the new General Council:
fra Benito M. Isip II, Councillor and Vicar General, born in 1966 in Manila (Philippines); first profession in 1990, ordained priest in 1998.
fra Javier M. Badillo Martín, Councillor and Secretary of the Order, born in 1966 in Plasencia (Spain); first profession in 1990, ordained in 1994.
fra José Gerardo M. Torres Ornelas, General Councillor, born in 1958 in Genaro (Mexico); first profession in 1990, ordained in 1997.
fra Maurice M. Kisomose, General Councillor, born in 1983 in Manyama Katimba (Uganda); first profession in 2009, ordained priest in 2016.
The new General Government expresses the international dimension of the Order and is called to accompany Servite communities in their pastoral, formative, and missionary commitment.
Looking to the future
The General Chapter reaffirmed the importance of living service as an evangelical style, in fidelity to the tradition of the Servants of Mary and in dialogue with the challenges of the present time.
The Union of Superiors General joins in prayer for the new Prior General and for the entire Council, wishing them a fruitful service for the good of the Order and of the Church.
