New Appointments at the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life

The Holy See Press Office has announced that, on June 24, 2025, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV appointed new Members to the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.

Among the newly appointed members of the Dicastery are the following Cardinals:
Arthur Roche, Prefect of the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments;
Cristóbal López Romero, S.D.B., Archbishop of Rabat (Morocco);
Giorgio Marengo, I.M.C., Apostolic Prefect of Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia);
Pierbattista Pizzaballa, O.F.M., Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem (Israel);
Jaime Spengler, O.F.M., Archbishop of Porto Alegre (Brazil).

Also appointed are the following Bishops:
Jude Thaddaeus Ruwa'ichi, O.F.M. Cap., Archbishop of Dar-es-Salaam (Tanzania);
Jerzy Maculewicz, O.F.M. Conv., Apostolic Administrator of Uzbekistan;
Julio César Salcedo Aquino, M.J., Bishop of Tlaxcala (Mexico);
Thulani Victor Mbuyisa, C.M.M., Bishop of Kokstad (South Africa);
Tesfaye Tadesse Gebresilasie, M.C.C.J., Auxiliary Bishop of the Archeparchy of Addis Ababa (Ethiopia).

As a sign of the richness and diversity of consecrated life within the universal Church, the Dicastery will also include Superiors General from important religious families:

  • Fr. Stanley Lubungo, Superior General of the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers)

  • Fr. Miguel Márquez Calle, Superior General of the Discalced Carmelites

  • Fr. Donato Ogliari, O.S.B., Abbot of the Monastery of Saint Paul Outside the Walls (Rome)

  • Br. Armin Altamirano Luistro, Superior General of the Brothers of the Christian Schools

  • Mother Chiara Cazzuola, Superior General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco)

  • Mother Françoise Petit, Superior General of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul

  • Mother Maria Goretti Lee, Superior General of the Hospitaller Sisters of Saint Paul

  • Mother Idilia Maria Moreira Gonçalves Carneiro, Superior General of the Hospitaller Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Finally, representing Secular Institutes, laywoman Luisa Muston, General President of the Secular Institute of the Missionaries of the Sick "Christ the Hope," has also been appointed.
