Journey on the Sustainability of the Mission: From Reflection to Future Action

26/10/2026

Fourth USG and UISG Workshop on the Sustainability of the Mission
Online | November 30, 2026, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM (Rome time)

On 30 November 2026, the International Union of Superiors General (UISG) and the Union of Superiors General (USG) will host an online meeting entitled Journey towards Mission Sustainability: From Reflection to Future Action, marking the conclusion of the first cycle of reflection and dialogue on mission sustainability.

Launched in 2024, the journey has involved leaders of congregations, treasurers and bursars, mission development offices, as well as ecclesial and financial partners, through an initial survey and three workshops conducted between December 2025 and September 2026.

The sessions highlighted how mission sustainability extends far beyond fundraising, requiring an integrated vision that encompasses leadership, congregational governance, apostolic planning, responsible resource management, and collaboration between congregations and ecclesial networks.

The meeting on November 30 will provide an opportunity to review the journey completed and identify potential future perspectives together. The summary report outlining the primary insights gained throughout the process will be presented, followed by a time for sharing, dialogue, and discernment on next steps.

Particular attention will be devoted to exploring ways to strengthen collaboration among congregations, enhance regional and national networks, build organizational capacities, and foster joint initiatives in support of the mission.

The meeting is open to everyone who participated in earlier stages of the journey, as well as to congregational leaders, bursars/treasurers, mission development offices, and ecclesial partners interested in contributing to the reflection.

Participation is free and exclusively online, subject to prior registration. Registered participants will receive connection details and the summary report in advance.

This event represents an occasion to build upon what has been achieved together and discern new forms of collaboration, so that the mission of religious congregations can continue responding to the challenges of our time with creativity and responsibility.
