On the occasion of the Jubilee 2025, Itinerari Ignaziani has developed the project
Saint Ignatius in Rome – Pilgrims with the Pilgrim, which offers integrated tools for individuals and groups, enabling them to experience independently the richness of Ignatian spirituality in the Roman places connected to the life of Saint Ignatius of Loyola.
The project includes:
The website https://itinerari-ignaziani.net, featuring geo-referenced routes for pilgrimages lasting from one to three days, eight thematic itineraries, texts for meditation, and in-depth materials;
The Guide to the Places and Pilgrimages of Saint Ignatius of Loyola in Rome, available for download at
https://itinerari-ignaziani.net/qr/guida
with a foreword by Father Arturo Sosa Abascal SJ, Superior General of the Society of Jesus;
Twenty bronze floor plaques placed at the most significant sites of Saint Ignatius's life in Rome, conceived as "the footsteps of Ignatius" and equipped with QR codes to connect the physical route with digital tools;
Two types of pilgrimage credentials:
digital credentials, integrated into the website and activated via geo-referencing;
artistic credentials, with an album for frottage, printable from
https://itinerari-ignaziani.net/qr/credenziale (particularly suitable for children);
Podcasts, available both on the website and on the Loquis platform (in a shorter version);
A video presenting the project.
Father Arturo Sosa Abascal, SJ, Superior General of the Society of Jesus, offered the following greeting for the initiative:
"Getting to know the places and the way of life of the first companions helps us to understand the process of discernment they lived. Praying and meditating in those places can suggest to us the method for discerning God's will in our own lives.
This spiritual guide for visits and pilgrimages to the places of Saint Ignatius of Loyola in Rome invites us to savor the spirituality connected with these places and, following in Ignatius's footsteps, to desire to become pilgrims of hope."
The project was carried out in collaboration with Centro Culturale Veritas ETS, thanks to the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture – TOCC PNRR Call, and with the patronage of several ecclesial and institutional bodies.
