The Third Order Regular of St Francis of Assisi reconfirms Fr. Amando as Minister General

On June 8, 2025, in Rome, Fr. Amando Trujillo Cano was re-elected Minister General of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis of Assisi (TOR) for a second six-year term, from 2025 to 2031.

Fr. Amando was born on May 22, 1962, in Mexico City. He is a priest of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis. He made his first vows in 1982 and was ordained a priest in 1988. He studied philosophy and theology in Mexico City, and later obtained a licentiate in Spiritual Theology from the Pontifical University Antonianum in Rome in 2016.

He has carried out pastoral, formation, and social ministries both in Mexico and the United States. He served as Provincial Minister of the Vice Province of Santa Maria de Guadalupe (2005–2007), then as General Councillor and General Assistant for the Secular Franciscan Order (OFS) and Franciscan Youth. In 2013, he was elected Vicar General of the Order, a position he held until 2019.
