Peace Begins with Dignity: A Global Call to end Human Trafficking
12th edition of the World Day of Prayer
and Reflection Against Trafficking in Persons
Promoted by USG and UISG
8 February 2026

On 8 February 2026, the 12th International Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking will take place. The initiative is organized by Talitha Kum, the International Network of Consecrated Life against Human Trafficking, and promoted by USG and UISG.
The theme chosen for this year is "Peace Begins with Dignity: A Global Call to End Human Trafficking." The message draws inspiration from the appeal of Pope Leo XIV, who reminds us that authentic peace is gentle and humble, born of love and grounded in full respect for the dignity of every human being.
Human trafficking, with its grave forms of exploitation and dehumanization, deeply undermines the foundations of peace and justice. Combating and eradicating it is an indispensable responsibility in building a more just, supportive, and rights-respecting world.
Each year, on the occasion of the feast of Saint Josephine Bakhita, all people of good will are invited to unite in prayer and action to bring an end to human trafficking. Prayer opens hearts; reflection strengthens awareness and commitment; concrete action makes it possible to bring Christ's peace and freedom to those who are most deprived of them.
In the face of the suffering of women, girls, and all people vulnerable to trafficking, the international community is called not to turn away, but to remain united in solidarity, committing itself with determination to the protection, support, and full restoration of the dignity of victims.
USG invites everyone to take part once again in this important initiative and to follow the Talitha Kum website and social media channels (Instagram and Facebook) for further information and updates.
