A time of listening on the Educational Mission of the Church

TO THE SUPERIORS GENERAL OF RELIGIOUS CONGREGATIONS 

Dear Superiors General,

The Education Commission of our two Unions (UISG and USG) wishes to continue promoting the educational mission through formative initiatives aimed at religious Congregations, addressing particularly significant educational themes that require a shared commitment.

In line with the progress made in recent years and in the spirit of the Jubilee of the Educational World, a dialogue with the Dicastery for Culture and Education, led by the Prefect, His Eminence Cardinal Tolentino de Mendonça, has highlighted the need to engage with religious communities. These communities, with great generosity and dedication, serve the educational mission.

We want to acknowledge the tremendous good that is done every day in education around the world, even in challenging contexts. This work helps break down barriers and promotes the dignity of every person, as well as the right to education, rooted in Gospel values and the diverse richness of charisms.

In this regard, we wish to invite you to take part in person in a time of listening dedicated to the educational mission of the Church.

The meeting will be graced by the presence of His Eminence Cardinal Tolentino de Mendonça, the Prefect, and will take the form of a synodal exercise. Through open conversation in the Spirit, we will have the opportunity to share the fruits of "much good" that is accomplished daily in the field of Catholic education offered by the many Institutes of Consecrated Life. At the same time, it will provide a privileged space to bring to light the challenges that the educational mission faces each day and to identify together new, concrete commitments for the future.

WE INVITE: the Superiors General, as well as the Heads of Education or their delegates, to participate.

We extend a special invitation to the Institutes in Rome to attend in person, so they can fully engage in this moment of dialogue and sharing.

Institutes outside of Rome will have the opportunity to join remotely and still feel involved.

The meeting will take place on April 30th, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, at the General Curia of the Society of Jesus, located at Via Borgo Santo Spirito No. 4.
