Fr. Martin Glechner elected new Superior General of the Calasantinians

The Calasantinian Congregation has announced that Fr. Martin Glechner, has been elected Superior General, succeeding Fr. Clemens Pilar, who led the community for the past twelve years.

Fr. Martin Glechner was born on 1 September 1983 in Ried im Innkreis, Austria, and grew up in Hohenzell. After graduating from the Bundesgymnasium in Ried im Innkreis in 2001, he completed an "Apostolic Year" at the P. Schwartz Mission Center in Schwarzau am Steinfeld. In 2002 he entered the Calasantinian Order, receiving the religious name Martin.

He completed his theological studies at the University of Vienna in 2006 and obtained his doctorate from the same university in 2010. He was ordained deacon in 2007 by Bishop Franz Scharl and priest in the same year by Bishop Maximilian Aichern.

Fr. Glechner gained extensive pastoral experience in the parish of Schwarzau am Steinfeld and, since 2021, in the newly established parish association "Tor zur Buckligen Welt."

Since 2014 he has also served in the leadership of the Calasantinian Congregation, first as General Secretary, and since 2020 as 3rd General Assistant.

With his academic, pastoral and leadership experience, Fr. Martin Glechner will guide the Calasantinians into the future, continuing the mission of the congregation.
