The Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life created, in 1968, an organ for listening to and consulting with the Unions of Superiors General (USG and UISG), which is popularly known as "the group of sixteen" since it is made up of sixteen Superiors General, eight from each Union.
On 4 and 5 October 2019, the VIII Seminar on the Formation of Educators was held in Rome, sponsored by the Education Commission of the Unions of Superior Generals (UISG-USG). The work took place in the General House of the Marist Brothers (Rome, EUR) in Piazzale Marcellino Champagnat 2.
The General Curia of the Society of Jesus in Rome has reported that the former Superior General, Fr. Adolfo Nicolás, died on May 20, in Tokyo, Japan. In the words of Fr. Arturo Sosa, current Superior General of the Society of Jesus and President of the USG, Fr. Adolfo was " a man of grace and wisdom, simple, unpretentious, devoted"....
