SAFEGUARDING MINISTRY AND INCULTURATION

Three speakers will give life to an enriching exchange, introducing participants to different cultural perspectives on Safeguarding:

Bishop Luis Manuel Alí Herrera - Auxiliary Bishop, Psychologist, Vicar General of the Center of Communion and Participation of the Archdiocese of Bogotá.

Dr. Gabriel Dy-Liacco - member of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors, member of the scientific advisory board of the Centre for Child Protection of the Gregorian University.

Sr. Alice Jacan - belongs to The Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Uganda. She is a Civil Lawyer and a human right activist mostly in the area of child protection. Sr. Alice is currently pursuing her Licentiate course in Canon Law in the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Nairobi, Kenya.

Moderator: Bro. Brendan Geary, FMS - former Provincial of the Marist Brothers' Province of West Central Europe (2010 - 2019). He is a Clinical Psychologist and psychotherapist and has been involved in the area of safeguarding as a therapist, researcher, writer and workshop presenter for almost twenty years. He is currently a member of the UISG / USG Commission for Care and Protection.
