Discerning Leadership 2027: In-Person Formation for a Synodal Church

Applications are now open for the Discerning Leadership 2027 in-person formation programme, designed for those exercising leadership responsibilities in the Church. USG and UISG are among the programme's founding partners. The programme aims to strengthen leadership and discernment in support of the Church's mission of reform and renewal.
For Superiors General and General Councillors, the programme offers an opportunity to deepen the personal dimension of their ministry and develop practical approaches to accompanying communities, fostering collaboration and building a synodal culture.
Participants and approach
The programme welcomes Superiors General and General Councillors, senior Vatican administrators with management responsibilities, bishops and vicars general, and lay leaders of Catholic organisations.
It integrates leadership development and spiritual formation through reflection and practice, giving equal attention to personal growth, relationships and organisational life.
A programme in two modules
The first module focuses on personal development, exploring self-awareness, inner freedom, leading in complexity and personal discernment.
The second module addresses interpersonal and organisational dimensions: forming synodal cultures, interculturality, leading and managing teams, communication and conflict resolution, and navigating polarities and creative tensions.

The programme is offered in three languages, with two modules for each edition:
