The XLIII General Assembly of the Congregation of the Mission of St. Vincent de Paul re-elected Father Tomaž Mavrič as Superior General of the Congregation of the Mission.
Father Tomaž, in accepting the election, expressed his gratitude to the Assembly and his total trust in Providence and in the intercession of St. Vincent de Paul: "Thank you very much to each one of you - his words -. This is our Family, our Congregation, our history, the road we must travel together. I accept the election with confidence in the help of God's mercy to make us work together for the best over the next six years'.

The General Assembly also proceeded with other elections: Father Gregorio Bañaga, from the Province of the Philippines, will be Vicar General, while Father Rafa ł Kopystynski, from the Province of New England (USA), Father Nélio Pereira Pita, from the Province of Portugal, Father Aaron Gutiérrez, from the Province of Mexico, and Father Dominique Iyolo, from the Province of Congo, have been identified as General Assistants. Father Mavrič concelebrated the Eucharist, the beginning of his second term as Superior General of the Congregation, on Friday 8 July and on Thursday 14 July in audience with Pope Francis with his capitulars and two other General Chapters: that of the Basilians and that of the Order of the Mother of God.
