The Brothers of the Immaculate Conception Celebrate an Extraordinary General Chapter

The Congregation of the Brothers of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary (FIC) has announced the election of Br. Prof. Clement Naapire as its new Superior General.
The election took place during the Extraordinary General Chapter, held from 7 to 13 June 2026 at the Roncalli Retreat Centre in Salatiga, Indonesia. The Chapter was convened following the untimely death of the Superior General, Br. Augustine Kubdaar, on 4 January 2026, a loss that deeply affected the Congregation and marked the beginning of an intense period of prayer and communal discernment.
At the conclusion of the Chapter, the delegates elected Br. Prof. Clement Naapire as the new Superior General. In accordance with the Constitutions of the Congregation, the members of the General Council elected during the 2024 General Chapter remain in office:
- Br. Michael Sidharta, Vicar General;
- Br. Raphael Besigrinee, General Councillor;
- Br. Augustinus Marjito, General Councillor.
In the message sent to the Union of Superiors General, the Congregation commends the new Superior General to the prayers of the entire USG, expressing its trust in the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, so that the new leadership may faithfully carry out the mission entrusted to the Congregation.
The Union of Superiors General extends its warmest wishes to Br. Clement Naapire for the ministry of leadership entrusted to him and accompanies him with its prayers, that he may guide the Congregation with wisdom, a spirit of fraternity, and fidelity to its charism. At the same time, the USG renews its grateful remembrance of Br. Augustine Kubdaar, commending him to the mercy of the Lord.
