Diploma Overview

Contemporary migration is profoundly transforming communities, parishes and societies. Migrants, refugees, displaced persons, victims of trafficking, seafarers and people on the move pose new pastoral, social, cultural and human challenges today, but they also represent an opportunity for renewal and transformation for the Church and society. Addressing these realities requires specific skills and an approach capable of welcoming, protecting, promoting and integrating people within the perspective of integral human development.

Training that transforms

The Scalabrini International Migration Institute (SIMI) is organising the 16th edition of the Online Diploma in Pastoral Care of Human Mobility: a fully online, interdisciplinary training programme designed both for those who wish to consolidate and deepen specialised skills in the field of human mobility and for those seeking an introduction to its study and to socio-pastoral service in this area.

Since 2011, the Diploma has trained more than one thousand women and men religious, pastoral workers, students, volunteers and professionals in the field. Today, it is one of the most widely recognised programmes in the field of pastoral care. Endorsed by the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, the programme is supported by major national and international Church organisations, including the Union of Superiors General (USG) and the International Union of Superiors General (UISG). Together, we believe in formation as a means of empowerment and personal, pastoral and social transformation.

This Diploma offers not only knowledge, but also practical tools to serve people on the move with greater competence and humanity.
