To Desire, Discern, Decide: DISCERNMENT IN PRACTICAL LIFE
4–8 December 2026
Florence
Course organized by CIS Toscana

The course "To Desire, Discern, Decide: Discernment in Practical Life" responds to the missionary mandate of the Ignatian Centre for Spirituality of the Euro-Mediterranean Jesuit Province, in the light of the four Universal Apostolic Preferences (UAPs) of the Society of Jesus for the decade 2019–2029.
The CIS is particularly committed to the first of these — showing the way to God through the Spiritual Exercises and discernment — while not neglecting the others: promoting reconciliation and justice for the poor and the excluded; accompanying young people in the building of a hope-filled future; and collaborating in the care of our Common Home.
Pope Leo, during the meeting with the Major Superiors of the Jesuits last 24 October, specified that the Church expects a contribution from the Society in the synodal process, especially by helping "ecclesial communities to discern how to walk together in hope."
The Superior General of the Jesuits, Fr Arturo Sosa, likewise encourages us "to find the best way to collaborate with the Lord's mission, the best way to serve the Church and our time, the best contribution we can offer with what we are and what we have, seeking to do what is for the greater divine service and the universal good."
In this spirit, CIS Toscana intends, through the present Course, to offer an effective contribution to personal, synodal, and ecclesial growth.
