21st Century: A New Era of Martyrs?
Conference promoted by the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints

The "New Martyrs – Witnesses of the Faith" Commission of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints is promoting the Conference "21st Century: A New Era of Martyrs?", which will take place on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the Pontifical Patristic Institute Augustinianum in Rome.
The Conference will provide an opportunity for reflection and study on the phenomenon of contemporary martyrdom, through testimonies and contributions focusing on different geographical contexts and the many forms of Christian witness in our time.
Following the Conference, on Wednesday, 16 September at 8:30 a.m., speakers and participants will be received in a special audience with the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV.
